We know that Milan is the fashion capital of the world but do we know how avanti it truly is? While the fashion models of September are strutting the looks for next spring, runway-influenced styles are already walking the streets. It may just be another weekday for you, but in Milan, you will be hitting the pavement with the industry leaders. After all, there are haute couture presentations, ready-to-wear shows, emerging designer compilations, magazine parties, and showroom appointments. How exciting to see the buyers, editors, stylists, and influencers working it. They truly are ahead of the show.
Here is what we are seeing and loving from the runways to the real way!
BELTED MAXI DRESSES
What better way to transition through the seasons than with the effortless and refined elegance of a maxi dress? We are loving the cool confidence of this timeless silhouette. Pick prints with power and embrace the chic femininity that complement any destination. Add a belt to bring some edge and streamline the look. We can all take a cue from the on-screen queen, Nicole Kidman. Even on the sidelines at the Prada show, she sets the standards.
MENSWEAR BLAZERS
This is the must-have wardrobe staple. The new and now version is often over-sized and will elevate any look. Utilitarian details provide the right amount of attitude to take you from office wear to streetwear. You can count on MaxMara to showcase sharply tailored suiting designed with authority. Think of the protagonist, Villanelle, of Killing Eve, the inspiration of the collection. The haute couture trio of Kaia Gerber, Gigi, & Bella Hadid were perfectly suited to deliver the look.
JUST ADD SNEAKERS
Who could make it through fashion week without the comfort and versatility of sneakers? A variety of interpretations could be seen hustling between shows and other fashionable events while providing some traction. On the catwalk, Nike continues to run with innovative collaborations. Geox introduced unexpected color combinations. And Casadei put forth a luxury capsule with an ethical initiative. Since this is a gender-inclusive trend, who better to represent than ‘it couple,' Dylan Sprouse & Barabra Palvin. They could be seen rocking suits with kicks at the Boss show. The take-away is from day to night and in business or pleasure, just add sneakers.
ZEBRA RULES
The European street scene is on safari! Fashionistas continue to embrace the exotic luxury of animal prints. And no one does it better than Donatella. The streets roared when JLo closed the Versace show in the iconic jungle dress, celebrating the February 2000 collaboration. This was the most energetic moment of fashion week and the height of the Google Image searches. Zebra fiercely ruled throughout the catwalks, as designers reinvent and modernize it. No need to wait for spring. Whether in Milan or New York, put on your tiger stripes and take a walk on the wild side!
